Autodesk is launching new plans based on people, and retiring plans based on serial numbers.
Transition to named user plans beginning May 7, 2020.
Autodesk is moving away from plans based on serial numbers and will instead be assigning each subscription to a named user. In other words, each Autodesk software plan you have will be based on actual people. These new plans will deliver you and your business many benefits now, and in the future, including:
Dedicated access for all employees whenever they need it. No more downtime because all of your licenses are in use.
New ways to optimize licensing costs. New named plans will allow you to have visibility into your usage data, allowing you to make smarter investments for your company.
Plans for individuals, teams, and enterprises with dedicated or flexible software access, depending on how your company works.
You will no longer have to manage network servers or track anonymous serial numbers.
And this is just the start of a more relevant user experience that includes more security features, additional support channels, a range of administrative capabilities, data insights, and integrated collaboration tools.
For current standalone or network maintenance plan customers:
At your first renewal before May 7, 2021 you can trade-in one standalone or network maintenance seat for one standard subscription (trade in standalone and get single-user access; trade in network and get multi-user access) at a price similar to what you’re paying in 2019 for maintenance. After trade-in, network maintenance plan customers will also have an opportunity to take advantage of the multi-user trade-in at their next renewal after August 7, 2020.
It’s also important to note that if you do not take the current trade-in offer, a couple of changes will happen:
Maintenance prices will increase by 20% on renewals after May 7, 2020.For Design & Creation Suite customers:
Regarding your Design & Creation Suites, Autodesk suggests upgrading your subscriptions to the Industry Collection, as it is ultimately less expensive than your current plans. It will give you more value from increased productivity because of the integration of products and shared views, as well as other cloud-based collaboration tools. It should also be noted that the final version of the Design & Creation Suites will be released in April 2020 for customers to download, and the last date to renew Suites will be April 16, 2020.
For multi-user subscribers:
Starting on August 7, 2020, at your first renewal only, trade in one seat for two standard subscriptions for one named user each, at a cost consistent with what you pay today. And going forward, these plans will renew at an ongoing discount until 2028*.
It’s also important to note that if you do not take the current trade-in offer, a couple of changes will happen:
The 2-for-1 trade-in offer will expire. After that point, you can trade in one multi-user subscription for one standard subscription at a similar price you’re paying today for your existing seat.In addition, your current plan will retire on August 7, 2021, and cannot be renewed after that. If you subscribe to a named user plan in the future, you’ll be subject to the suggested retail price in place at that time.
